Rocío’s paintings are a reflexive art. Instead of analyzing causality, her images exhibit it. Instead of all the events, it matters in these paintings the dramatic and stage tension among their significant systems. With a minimum of visual elements and a maximum of narrative intensity, Rocío manages to puts some distance between us and her characters, thus guaranteeing a slowdown in the emotional reaction to her works due to a stressing of the forms. There is a crowding-out effect in these oil paintings, achieved through an almost clinical coldness in the putting up.

For this creator, writing, style, painting and visual research are determining factors in the making of the anecdote. There are even moments in which the evolution of the formal research becomes independent from the evolution subject. In these story-paintings the subjects and their variations always respond to a linguistic statement.
